Through the process of Sublimation we can make one or more custom pillows from your photos or images for you or as a special gift. They make a great surprise! People submit photos taken at special events, pets, buildings, vacation pictures, heirloom photos, and more.

The process works like this; You order your pillow(s) on this page and then e-mail us (by clicking here) your photo(s).

We will then begin the process, which normally takes from one to two weeks. Occasionally, the process can take up to three weeks. The fabric is printed with your photo and then the pillow is made. We will respond to you when your photo is received to let you know that it was of a good enough quality and that the process has begun.

We cannot use very small thumbnail-type or "grainy" photos. They are simply not of a good enough quality to make a good pillow. In some cases, images around 75k have been acceptable but usually 100k up to full size photos taken by a 2 megapixel (or higher) camera are better. If you are in doubt, e-mail us your photo and we will evaluate it before beginning the process.

If you are scanning an heirloom type of photo, do it at a high quality. We have made many pillows that are from an old snapshot taken 50 or more years ago. These types of photos can be successfully scanned to a good-quality resolution. Many retail stores that offer photo-processing, including stores like Wal-Mart, have a machine that can scan and digitize old photos.

We cannot use professionally taken photos that are considered copyrighted. Likewise, we cannot reproduce images containing logos or trademarks without expressed permission. In other words, if you do not have permission to use (or ownership of) an image, please do not submit it.

These pillows are approximately nine inches on the longest side. The length of the other side is determined by the shape of your picture(s). The more square your photo(s), the larger the pillow ends up being.

We can crop photos, etc., and e-mail them back to you for approval if you choose. A photo where a person's head (or other prominent feature) is very near the top may not work well as the pillows are made right to the edge of the photo. (See the examples near the bottom of the page.)

Volume discounts are available for orders of 10 pillows or more. We reserve the right to reject any photo(s).

These pillows are filled with sweet smelling Maine Balsam Fir.

When you order, your pillow will be custom-made for you right here at our store in Downeast Maine - not taken off the shelf. Shipping information: When ordering from Winterberry Cottage, you pay only $6 for flat-rate shipping (per order unless otherwise noted) and we pay the rest! We do not attempt to profit from shipping and there are never any "handling" charges.
